How do you photograph young children?
With patience and without posing. Children aren't always relaxed straight away, so I give them time and simply join in. The best photos happen when they forget the camera is there.
Family portraits
At home or outdoors in Amsterdam?
For babies and toddlers, home often works best: a familiar place with everything within reach. Prefer to go outside? The Vondelpark, the Amsterdamse Bos or the canal side by your home are lovely spots.
When should you plan a shoot with a toddler?
Choose a moment when your child is well rested and has just eaten. That is often the morning, but you know your child best; we agree on it together beforehand.
What does a family photographer in Amsterdam cost?
You get a quote tailored to your family, because every family is different. Within the Randstad you pay no travel costs; parking in Amsterdam is at your expense.
Is our flat big enough for a photo shoot?
Yes. A window with daylight and a spot on the sofa or the bed is often enough. A pile of laundry or toys on the floor I remove in the editing, so the photo feels calm.

Heel blij met het werk van Joanna! Voorafgaand aan de shoot neemt ze de tijd om je/je werk te leren kennen, zodat de shoot kan plaats vinden in een setting die het meest bij je past. Ze geeft je gelijk een zeer comfortabel gevoel en laat de shoot op hele relaxte wijze plaats vinden. Samen beweeg je langs verschillende plekken en geeft ze advies in hoe je het beste kunt staan. Vervolgens krijg je een reeks aan prachtige foto’s toegestuurd waar je zelf een selectie uit kunt maken, waarna ze de puntjes op i zet om ze zo mooi mogelijk te bewerken. Top resultaat!

What if my child won't cooperate?
That is part of it and I plan time for it. That is often when the most spontaneous photos happen.
Can we see the photos straight away?
Yes, right after the shoot we look through them together. You then choose your favourites in an online gallery, and only then do I start editing.
Can the shoot take place in the Amsterdamse Bos?
Yes. The forest borders Amstelveen, so it is close by for me, and there is plenty of room to run and play.
How much time should we set aside?
Allow about two hours. With young children we take breaks whenever needed.
